YKK Waterptoof Zipper

Extreme Sealing Technology: The Definitive Waterproof & Dustproof Solution for Premium Outdoor Gear

YKK Waterproof Zipper

YKK AQUASEAL® employs patented polyurethane (PU) coating technology, integrating high-precision nylon coil with flexible waterproof film through molecular bonding. Validated to resist liquid water ingress at 100 kPa hydrostatic pressure (ISO 811) while maintaining 300% elongation at break (ASTM D412), it delivers superior abrasion resistance (≥5,000 cycles per ASTM D3884). As the industry benchmark, AQUASEAL® meets EN 14214 standards for marine applications and is certified for use in diving equipment, technical outerwear, and hazardous environment protection systems.

Technical Specifications

Product Series:AQUASEAL® (CNF / R / VISLON®)
Waterproof Rating:IPX7 (30-min submersion at 1m) / IPX8 (continuous submersion at 10m depth for 48h per IEC 60529)
Operating Temperature:-30°C to +60°C (retains ≥250% elongation at -30°C per ASTM D2137)
Material Composition:High-density nylon coil (1100D) + Hydrophobic PU membrane (0.3mm thickness)

Validated Performance Data

Engineering Advantages:
Single/dual-side coating process withstands 100 kPa hydrostatic pressure (ISO 811) for 48h with less than 5% adhesion loss after 1,000h salt spray exposure (ASTM B117). Maintains waterproof integrity through 50 industrial launder cycles (ISO 6330).
Standard Waterproof Zipper: Fails at 50 kPa; loses 70% waterproofing after 10 wash cycles (ISO 6330)
YKK AQUASEAL®: Validated at 100 kPa for 48h (ISO 811 hydrostatic test)
Cold Flexibility: Standard coatings crack at -15°C (ASTM D2137 Type B)
YKK AQUASEAL®: Retains 250% elongation at -30°C (MIL-STD-810H Method 501.7)

Diving & Marine Systems

EN 14153-2 drysuits, SOLAS-compliant lifejackets, waterproof expedition packs (IPX8 certified)

⚖

Extreme Climate Protection

EN 342 Arctic workwear (-30°C validated), storm-rated technical shells (EN 1049.2), polar expedition systems

Sealing Performance Engineering

Critical parameters for maintaining IPX8 integrity through 50+ wash cycles (per ISO 6330)

Seam Sealing Protocol

Must use YKK-approved thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) seam tape (0.25mm thickness). Needle holes require continuous thermal sealing at 180°C ±5°C (EN 13274-4 validated) to prevent capillary leakage through stitch channels.
